On account of the plummeting temperature, young students going for tuition classes in the early morning faced severe discomfort and difficulties.
People who use two-wheelers for their daily activities are also facing severe difficulties.
One Longjam Somorjit of Wabagai Hiranmei who is currently staying at Keibung Oinam Leikai and working as home tutor told The Sangai Express that the extreme weather condition has been creating many problems to his profession.
Saying that he has been taking home tuition and coaching classes at different locations of Imphal West and Imphal East since early morning, Somorjit said that he felt extreme cold in riding a two-wheeler and could not see the way clearly due to thick fog.
Thokchom Maipakpi who runs a shop at Singjamei Bazar said that there was a sudden rise in the number of customers who came to her shop to buy room heaters and thermo flasks during the last couple of days.
About one week back, hardly five/six room heaters were sold in a day but the sale of room heaters as well as other winter requirements have picked up considerably as the temperature dropped considerably during the last couple of days, she said.
Charcoal traders of Checkon said that the number of people who came to buy charcoal has increased considerably since the last four/five days even though it is not as brisk as witnessed in the previous years.
"Just two weeks back people were saying that this winter was not as cold as winters used to be in Manipur but since the last couple of days we cannot face the cold without a heater or fire," said one elderly charcoal customer at Checkon.
