Video showcases progress of Jiribam-Imphal rail-line

Prasar Bharati News and Digital Platform released a short video on the progress of Jiribam-Imphal railway line project being taken up by Northeast Frontier Railway and declared completion of 91.79 percent of the project.
In the short video, Prasar Bharati said that 48 out of the total 52 tunnels along the 110km long railway line have been completed and there will be a total of 11 major bridges.
As of now, construction of seven sub-structure bridges and five super structure bridges have been completed, the short video mentioned, adding that construction of 110 minor bridges out of the total 129 such bridges have been completed.
The video also mentioned that construction of world's tallest railway pier bridge measuring 141 metres is about to be completed.
Meanwhile, NE Frontier Railway chief public relations officer Sabyasachi De told media persons that Jiribam-Imphal railway project has many tunnels and bridges along steep and big mountains, The project also includes 11 stations and construction six stations had already been completed.
The total cost of the project when completed is estimated to be around Rs 14,322 crore and the project is targeted to be completed fully by December, 2023, he said, adding that Jiribam-Khongsang section of the project had already been completed.
According to Sabyasachi De, it takes 10 hours to reach Imphal from Jiribam but the travel time will be reduced significantly to 2.5 hours when Jiribam-Imphal railway line is commissioned and this project will help immensely in enhancing Manipur's connectivity.
