Meet hails ILP portal update, sticks to demand

While commending the state government for updating and launching of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) portal on December 28 by CM N Biren, the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has urged authorities concerned to initiate measures for effective use of the portal in the implementation of ILP system in the state.
In a release, ILPS co-convenor Thiyam Saratchandra informed that a meeting on the rules and regulations of ILPS was conducted jointly, by J1LPS, Mayang Langjing Semgat Nupi Lup and Meitei Inat Kanba Lup, Akham at Mayang Langjing community hall on Sunday.
The meet appreciated the government for updating the ILP portal and urged for its proper implementation in executing the ILPS in the state of Manipur.
In addition, the meet also unanimously resolved to urge the government to look into the issue of issuing fake documents like Aadhaar and ILPS permit to non-locals and initiate befitting punishment to those involved in such act; clearly define indigenous and permanent residents in Section 3 and 4 (1) of ILPS guideline; prohibit sale of land to non-locals under section 7 of Bengal Eastern Frontiers Regulation 1873; judiciously implement Manipur Land Reforms Act as agreed between JCILPS and government; frame relevant guidelines by setting 1951 as base year to determine outsiders; update NRC with 1951 as base year; check whereabouts of those non-locals whose permit haves expired, etc.
The meet was presided over by ILPS convenor Phulindro Konsam, the release added.
