1st Emoinu Fish Festival on Jan 3

Department of Fisheries will organise the 1st Emoinu Fish Festival on January 3, 2023 on the day of Emoinu Festival at Hapta Kangjeibung in Imphal East district.
In a notification, Fisheries director H Balkrisna Singh informed that the objective of the festival is to facilitate purchase of fish for religious offering as well as promote the fisheries sector for sustainable growth and development.
The Fish festival will also serve as a "One Stop Solution" to the citizens for Emoinu festival where fresh vegetables, fruits, fishes, etc., will be available, the director informed, adding that, the Agriculture and allied departments of the state and other private firms will also participate in the festival.
While urging interested farmers to contact the district fishery officer(s)/chief executive officer(s)/Directorate of Fisheries, Lamphelpat on or before December 29, the director advised farmers to sell their fish at the rate fixed by the department for Emoinu Fish Festival, 2023.The department will bear transportation charges for the participating fish farmers, the director said while also informing that the stalls shall be provided free of cost by the organising department.
The farmer should bring their fish yield within 9 am to 11 am inside the festival premises, the director added.
