Ex-ADC members air grievances to central leaders

In their continuous effort to highlight grievances of Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) of the state, ex-ADC members took the issues to New Delhi and apprised the central leaders in the past week.
The ex-ADC members went to Delhi in connection with the "functioning of ADCs of Manipur including non-holding of ADC elections" after the lapse of the latest term in November, 2020.A statement issued by Ex-ADC Members' Forum, Manipur convenor RS Ngaranchui and secretary Thangkam Lupheng said that the team of four members also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister on December 22.The team consisted of RS Ngaranchui, Thangkam Lupheng, former chairman of Ukhrul ADC Dr Yaronsho Ngalung and former chairman of Tamenglong ADC Namsinrei Panmei.
The ex-ADC members met with several central leaders and sought their intervention to redress the issues related with six ADCs of the state.
The team met with union minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda, union minister for Panchayati Raj Girijaj Singh and union minister for Law & Justice Kiren Rijiju, apprising them of the grievances and handed over a copy each of the memorandum the union ministers.
"The team had a fruitful and positive time with all the union ministers," the statement said.
The team also met union Home minister Amit Shah.
"The union Home minister gave a very positive response to issues being raised by the delegation in connection with the functioning of ADCs of Manipur including non-holding of ADC elections after the lapse of the latest term in November, 2020," the statement maintained.
It also informed that the meetings with the union min isters were facilitated and arranged by Outer Manipur Lok Sabha MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze.
