Protests against liquor legalisation continue

Imphal, December 27 2022:
In continuation of its ongoing protest against legalisation of liquor in Manipur, Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) in association with All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), Nambol Phoijing Makha Leikai Meira Paibi and Ereipak Eenat Chanura Loinasillon (EECHAL), Nambol branch organised a sit-in protest at Nambol Phoijing Makha Leikai, Bishnupur district on Tuesday.
Members of Nupi Samaj, Women's Development Organisation, Thanga Lawai Sabal Leikai and CADA also staged a similar protest at Thanga Lawai Sabal Leikai while another sit-in was staged by Nupi Samaj, Thounaojam Meira Paibi Lup and CADA at Thounaojam, also in Bishnupur district.
Meanwhile, Nupi Samaj, Wangoo Laikhong Makha Leikai Meira Paibi Lup and CADA jointly staged a sit-in protest at Wangoo Laikhong under Imphal West district on Tuesday.
During these sit-ins, the protestors denounced the government's decision to legalise liquor stating that such a policy will endanger the lives of the people especially the young, while further demanding the decision be revoked immediately.
They also shouted slogans like "No to legalisation of liquor in Manipur", "Withdraw cabinet's decision", and "Save the people of Manipur" , during the protests, a release by CADA Information & Publicity secretary Khun dongbam Anand informed.
