Restaurant run by differently abled persons inaugurated

Social welfare minister Heikham Dingo inaugurated a family restaurant called 'The Voice Khonjel' run by different abled persons (deaf and mute) at Luwangshangbam on Monday.
Speaking as chief guest of the event, Dingo hailed those running the restaurant and wished them a grand success in their endeavour.
He also spoke about the various contributions made by differently abled persons to the society and encouraged them to live their lives with pride and face challenges courageously.
The minister also stressed on the importance for all sections of the society to support and encourage livelihood activities initiated by the differently abled persons.
Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam, who presided over the function, said that the restaurant will remain forever in the history of the state and it will act as a catalyst in encouraging differently abled persons to stand on their own and face the challenges of life.
He also expressed hope that differently abled persons many open such restaurants and other businesses across the state and urged the people of the area to visit and enjoy the service offered by the restaurant as an act of encouraging them.
Social welfare director Ng Uttam, who was also present on the occasion, said that giving opportunities to the differently abled persons is an important element of empowering them.
Without such opportunities, many of them will never find their skills and continue to live a lonely life, he said and added that differently abled persons are the resources of the state but not a burden.
Patsoi MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor, Classic Group of Hotels managing director Dr Th Dhabali, LDA chairman M Asnikumar, DC (Imphal East) Khumanthem Diana and UNACCO managing director N Irabanta also attended the opening ceremony as guests of honour.
MLA Karam Shyam and MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor also donated Rs 50,000 each to the restaurant operators in encouragement of their initiative.
