Imphal, September 26 2022:
Affected Land and Property Owners' Association has threatened to stop the ongoing road repair work if official measures for release of compensation to people in the affected area from Dailong to Jiri River are taken up within 10 days.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club, here, on Monday, Association chairman ID Gambui stated that it will not accept the declaration of the area from Dailong to Jiri River along NH-137 as Green Zone, by a former Tamenglong DC.
The distance from Tamenglong to Dailong is around 10km and those residing along the national high way whose properties were affected by the road expansion project, have been given due land compensation by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Meanwhile, the distance from Jiri River to Mahur is 87 km and the government had commenced the process to award the land compensation from December this year.
However, for those residing from Dailong to Jiri River (96.87 km), which is located in the middle of the said two locations, there is no initiation for compensation, which is completely unacceptable.
Thus, he demanded the government to take up measures for awarding land compensation for those affected within 10 days, falling which the ongoing road repair work will be halted.
