DSSS organises training on food processing & value addition

Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS) today organised a 2-days training cum sensitisation programme on "Farmers Producer Company (FPC) Management, food processing and value addition" for Rumril FPC Ltd under Mission Organic Value Chain Development For North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) Phase-III at Machi Public Hall, Tengnoupal district.
The programme was conducted under the sponsorship of Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur.
It was attended by DSSS field staff, K Anthony; Rumril FPC CEO, Joshou; Christie Charanga and K.Mekham as presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, Joshou informed that the training programme was conducted to impart knowledge and skill on processing food from locally available ingredients to improve the economy of farmers.
About 80 farmers from 14 villages under Rumril FPC took part in the training programme.

DSSS also organised a 2-days training programme on "Food processing and value addition" for Semka FPC Ltd at Tashar village, Ukhrul.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO of Semka FPC, Sony Susan R Shimray enlightened the gathering about the policies of MOMA to increase organic food crops in the district.
"Farmers under Semka FPC were especially selected for cultivation of Black rice /chakhao for large scale production and market the produce to increase the economy", he added.
The CEO also highlighted the roles and responsibilities of appointed Board of Directors (BOD), shareholders and prospect of FPC in venturing better business outlook.
The participants were also educated on how to prepare King Chilli pickle, Green Chilli pickle, Ginger candy, Banana Chips, Bamboo shoots pickle, Tree tomato Sauce, Sumac , Bitter brinjal pickle, etc.
More than 50 FIG farmers registered under Semka FPC Ltd of Ukhrul block took part in the event.
