Dec 15 deadline set to clear Ad bills

A joint meeting of Editors Guild Manipur (EGM), Manipur Hills Journalists' Union (MHJU) and editors supported by All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) has set December 15 as the deadline for the state government to clear pending advertisement bills.
A joint release by EGM and MHJU said that the decision to set the fresh deadline was made following chief minister's assurance during separate telephonic conversations with presidents of EGM and AMWJU.
The CM assured to take up the issue of pending bills as soon as possible and even spoke to IPR minister in this connection, said the release and accordingly media organisations of the state took the decision to extend the dateline to December 15.The meeting also resolved to take up actions including cease work and other activities if government fails to translate the assurance into action by December 15 afternoon.
The media fraternity through the release also appealed to the government to understand the conditions under which media have been working for last two years.
EGM president Khogendra Khomdram, MHJU representatives, Kangleipakki Meira editor W Shamjai, who is also AMWJU president, and editors of both print and electronic media attended the meeting held at Manipur Press Club.
