'Poisoned' Golden Eagle dies

Imphal, December 13 2021:
A Golden Eagle which was handed over to the Forest Department with alleged symptoms of insecticide poisoning unfor-tunately died on Monday despite great efforts by the officials to save its life.
The Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) was handed over to the Forest Department by one Sagol-sem Gigin from Wangoo.

Speaking to media persons, N Munal Meitei, Assistant Conservator of Forests, stated that the bird was discovered by kids who were playing in a field with suspected signs of insecticide poisoning.
He also urged the people to refrain from using insecticide and setting bird traps.
