Imphal, December 13 2021:
The Pherzawl District Chief's Council and the Tipaimukh Village Authorities' Union, Pherzawl District have expressed their objection to the re-amalgamation of Thanlon sub-division from Pherzawl district to Churachandpur district.
In a statement, Pherzawl District Chief's Council and the Tipaimukh Village Authorities' Union have stated that the MoA dated April 23, 2018 signed by former president Joseph Lalrothang and former general secretary Francis Songneilien, Hmar Inpui, was executed in secrecy without consulting the people of Pherzawl district who are the main stakeholders.
The Pherzawl District Chiefs' Council and the Tipaimukh Village Authorities' Union urged the Government of Manipur to deem the clandestine MoA as null and void and not to consider it in concluding a Cabinet of high-level decision.
Further, the statement asserted that Joseph R Hmar, the current president of Hmar Inpui, does not represent the people of Pherzawl district and is not assigned to convey 'no objection' to the re-amalgamation of Thanlon sub-division to Churachandpur district.
And as such, his letter dated November 22 addressed to the Chief Minister declaring 'no objection' to the re-amalgamation should be treated as unfounded and void, the statement continued.
The Pherzawl District Chiefs' Council and the Tipaimukh Village Authorities' Union urged the Government of Manipur to enhance peace and tranquility in Pherzawl district and disallow the re-amalgamation.
They further appealed to the Govt to take a compact view and consider the sustainability, economic viability and administrative convenience in the current state of the district with the existing sun-divisions - Pherzawl, Thanlon, Parbung Tipaimukh and Vangai Range.
