Imphal, December 13 2021:
All Club Organisation Association & Meira Paibi Lup (ACOAM-Lup), Kangleipak has raised concern over the validity of certificates presented to students by three private paramedical institutes of the state, namely Saina Institute of Medical Sciences, Sainikon (branch office-Porompat); Kangleipak Medical and Nursing Institute, Khurai and Saraswati Institute of Management and Paramedical Sciences, Pangei, considering none of three institutes are affiliated to the Medical Council or a university.
Addressing a press meet at its Lamphelpat office on Monday, Lup joint secretary Th Baleshwar recounted that an RTI application was filed on November 23 after suspecting the operations of the three private paramedical institutes.
The response to the RTI query was received on December 9 and it has raised many concerns.
He informed that the response to the RTI query did not properly specify whether the institutes have been recognised by the state government or not.
Instead, a copy of a government order on March 22 notifying the three institutes to submit No Objection Certificate (NOC) and get affiliation from the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) for establishing the institutes, was furnished.
However, there is confusion over how the institutes gave certificates to students of B-Pharm and D-Pharm courses on completion, without getting affiliated to PCI.
Furthermore, the three paramedical institutes have introduced numerous other courses aside from B-Pharm and D-Pharm courses, which begs the question how the opening of the courses were approved, he remarked.
Stating that ACOAM-Lup will not stand by and watch the career and future of the students get ruined, Baleshwar urged the state government and the authority concerned to take a serious look into the three institutes.
He also appealed to parents/guardians to first check if an institute is recognised by the government and whether it is affiliated to a Council or university concerned, before admitting their wards to any educational institute.
