Villagers extend support to intending candidate

An election programme in support of BJP state executive member Huri Golmei, who is an intending BJP candidate in Tamenglong assembly constituency, was organised by Booth Level Committee Nungtek/Karuangmuan village here on Monday.
The declaration document in support of Huri Golmei was handed over to him by Thoubei village chairman Angou Khumba and secretary Thoiba Bariam and other leaders.
As per the document, out of 110 households in the village, 61 unanimously declared support to Huri Golmei.
During the programme, a blessing ceremony was administered by Nungtek Part-1 Baptist Church reverend pastor Vaitonlnkah.
Speaking at the event, Huri Golmei affirmed that if he is elected in the coming election, he will erase the word 'backward' from Tamenglong district through judicious and expeditious implementation of development and welfare programmes.
He assured the gathering that if he is elected, construction of the very much needed bridge over Ijei river which will connect Nungtek/Karuangmuan to Longmai Bazar, Noney will be his topmost priority.
Pointing out that climate change and environmental degradation is increasing day by day, Golmei stated that he will chalk up policies to preserve and protect environment.
He will give attention to alternate schemes for jhum cultivators to stop deforestation, viable economy for the poor farmers, more powers will be given to women and will focus on education and health sectors, he further assured.
Biodegradable carry bags were also distributed by the aspirant candidate to the attendees during the programme, also attended by steering committee chairman Guilang Gangmei, chief agent RK Ajin, former ADC member Kaniangmei Riamei and other prominent leaders of BJP Tamenglong district.
