MSCW condemns violence against NE people

Imphal, February 10 2014:
Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW), Government of Manipur has strongly condemned the violent activities committed by the people of mainland India against the north eastern people residing in New Delhi and other parts of the country.
In a press release, the Commission recalled recent killing of Nido Tania from Arunachal Pradesh, molestation of two Manipuri girls residing in Delhi and the rape of one minor girl aged 14 years from the State by their landlord's son on February 7 and pressed the Central Government to take up necessary corrective initiatives to curb such violent activities.
Meanwhile, a team of MSCW led by its Chairperson Dr L Ibetombi Devi visited the residence of Sapam (O) Roma Devi of Thoubal Wangmataba Mathak Leikai under Thoubal Police Station on February 8 to investigate into the death of Sapam (N) Takhellambam (O) Binita alias Abema Devi w/o T Akash Singh, who was found dead with injuries mark on her body on February 6 .
The Chairperson was accompanied by Hodam Piteswori, member of MSCW; Legal Advisor of MSCW and staffs of the commission during the visit and they had a brief interaction with the family of the deceased woman.
