Six teams entrusted to aid absentee voters in Jiri AC

Preparations for the second phase election are in full swing in Jiribam district as district election officer W Malemnganba Chenglei on Wednesday appointed six polling teams to facilitate absentee voters exercise their rights.
The six polling teams comprise two each polling officials with videographer, micro-observer and security personnel.
The main purpose of forming these teams is to pay house-to-house visit for two round to issue and receive the postal ballot.
As per the Election Commission of India (ECI) decision, the facility for voting through postal ballot paper is being availed to Senior Citizens (AVSC) and PwDs (AVPD) marked in Electoral Roll and Covid-19 suspect or affected (AVCO) persons at their houses or place of quarantine/Hospital.
The number of Absentee voters marked in Electoral Roll for AVSC is 387, AVPD (173) and AVCO (0) in Jiribam AC.
The DEO also advised all stakeholders including absentee voters, candidates and agents to strictly follow the ECI guidelines in order to have a transparent and accountable election in addition to maintaining secrecy of voting and ensuring 100 per cent voting.
Meanwhile, a total of 147 12D forms have been received and approved for 80+ (AVSC), 11 in PwD (AVPD) and 0 (zero) COVID 19 (AVCO)/suspect electors, by assistant returning officer of 40-Jiribam AC.
Designated teams of polling officers will visit such electors for facilitating their voting by postal ballot paper in two rounds.
The first round visit will be held from February 25 to 27 and the second round visit from the February 28 to March 2 .
All electors in 40-Jiribam Assembly Constituency who are above 80 years (387 Nos) and marked as PwD (173 Nos) in the electoral Roll have also been provided Form 12D before the due date of February 9 .
