Imphal, February 23 2022:
Stating that Works minister and Thongju AC BJP candidate Thongam Biswajit has been working tirelessly to strengthen the party's movement in the state; Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conveyed that the minister met central leaders numerous times for resolving the various issues plaguing the state.
The flag hoisting ceremony of Th Biswajit was held at his Ningomthongjao residence on Wednesday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, Himanta recalled that after leaving Trinamool Congress, both Th Biswajit and Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan won the election.
However, Joykisan left BJP, while Biswajit remained and worked tirelessly to strengthen the party, like a protagonist in a Hindi film.
It is due to his relentless efforts that many of his supporters joined BJP and solidified the party's present status in the state.
Himanta recounted that Biswajit often called on central leaders including him (Himanta) for resolving issues plaguing the state, which shows the latter's love for Manipur and its people.
Thus, some issues of the state were resolved in such a manner, he added.
The Assam CM continued: "In 2017, PM Narendra Modi assured of ending the frequent bandh/blockade in the state if BJP were to come to power in Manipur.
As such, the instances of bandh/blockades imposed in the state over the past 5 years is almost zero.
If BJP forms the government for another team, the state will develop to another level.
The works done by CM N Biren and Works minister Th Biswajit, including delivering essentials to the people, renovation of the national highways, and implementation of the Inner Line Permit System, are what Congress failed to do in its 15-year reign".
In his speech, minister Th Biswajit remarked that preservation and protection of the state's rich cultural wealth and territorial integrity is BJP's promise to the people of Manipur.
The state has entered an era of peace and harmony under the BJP government in the state, he contended and urged voters to elect capable representatives, who are sincere to the people and not withhold/manipulate information, as the Congress candidate of Thongju is doing.
The ceremony was also attended by BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi, former union minister Th Chaoba, ex-president Kshetrimayum Bhabananda and Nagaland deputy CM Yanthungo Patton.
As part of the function, renowned artistes presented live performances lauding BJP.
