HSLCE 2022 commences, one expelled

The High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2022 conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) commenced today with over 30,000 students giving the examination at 192 centres across the State.
The examination will continue till April 26.At least, one student bearing roll number 40614 was expelled from Yumnam Huidrom Government High School centre today.
On field inspection at various centres in Imphal, students were seen wearing face masks and maintaining safety distance while giving the examination.
However, violations of Covid safety guidelines were also witnessed at examination centres as a large number of parents who came to drop their children gathered outside school campuses without maintaining physical distance.
The Class 10 board examination started at 9 am and concluded at 12 noon.
Reportedly, BOSEM decided to Conduct the offline HSLC examination as the State has slowly returned to normalcy from the COVID-19 pandemic which had greatly affected the lives and livelihood of many.
Last year, in view of the surge of COVID-19 positive cases, the State Government had cancelled both Class X and XII board physical examinations.
The examinations were conducted through Alternative Assessment or Evaluation Mechanism.
Meanwhile, the Rongmei Naga Students Organisation (Longmai Luangrean) and Longmai Village Authority leaders visited two exam centres at Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School and Sharon English School at Longmai (Noney Bazar) and extended wishes to the students.
Altogether 227 students gave the examination at Sharon English High School while 322 students appeared at Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School.
At Moreh, the examination was conducted under strict vigil of Moreh Police, Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO, Moreh Block) and All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU, Tengnoupal District Committee) .
395 students from nine schools of Moreh were supposed to give the exam at two centres at St George High School and Moreh Government Higher Secondary School, but only 384 gave the exam as 11 students were absent.
CCTV cameras were used to monitor the conduct of the examination inside the examination halls of St George High School.
The BOSEM Class X examination was also conducted at 10 different centres in Senapati district.
A total of 1,936 candidates gave the examination at 10 centres in Senapati district.
The exam centres in Senapati district include Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram, Mao-Maram Higher Secondary School, Tadubi, Sardar Patel High School, Mao, Okai Academy, Mao, Bethany Higher Secondary School, Rikhumai Taphou, Senapati, St Anthony's School, Rikhumai Taphou, Senapati, Lao Radiant Higher Secondary School, Vakho, Karong, Grace Engligh School, Karong, DV School, Senapati and Purul Higher Secondary School, Purul.
Senapati DC had earlier issued CrPC 144 in and around the exam centres of the district to ensure smooth conduct of the exam.
