Congress gaining ground as people lose faith in BJP-led Government: Meghachandra

Thoubal, July 26 2026: Wangkhem AC MLA and CLP leader Keisham Meghachandra has alleged that the BJP-led "double-engine" government has systematically looted and exhausted welfare funds meant for the people, leaving them to suffer.

He asserted that the situation can be addressed only by bringing the Congress party to power.

Meghachandra made the remarks during a reception ceremony organised by the Wangkhem Block Congress Committee to welcome around 250 people from different political parties, including the BJP, JD(U) and NPP, who joined the Indian National Congress (INC), expressing their faith in the party.

He also urged the new entrants to stand united and work collectively to save Manipur.

The new entrants were warmly welcomed at the programme and presented lengyans bearing the Congress party symbol.

Addressing the gathering, Meghachandra said the Congress party's ideology of strengthening unity, fostering peace, ensuring religious harmony and promoting peaceful coexistence has helped the party gain increasing public support.

He claimed that people from not only Wangkhem Assembly Constituency but also from all 60 Assembly constituencies of Manipur are gradually reposing their faith in the Congress and joining the party.

Meghachandra said that due to the growing support for the Congress, he expressed confidence that the increasing people's support would enable the party to form the government in the forthcoming 13 th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.

Urging the new entrants to begin their journey with a pledge of oneness, he said the people must stand together to save Manipur, which has been suffering from prolonged pain and turmoil.

He called for collective efforts to restore peace and create a stable and progressive Manipur where people can five together peacefully.

The programme was attended by CLP leader and Wangkhem AC MLA Keisham Meghachandra; his wife, Keisham Robita Leima; Wangkhem Block Congress Committee president Alhaj Kiramat Ali; Wangkhem Mahila Block Congress Committee president Konsam Kunjamani Devi; Wangkhem Block Congress Committee working president Sorokhaibam Kunjeshor; Wangkhem Youth Congress Committee president Moirangthem Robinson; Charangpat GP Administrative Committee chairperson Kh Premnath; Wangkhem GP Administrative Committee chairperson Mohd Yasar Arafat; and local leaders from various polling stations of Wangkhem AC, among others.
