MU announces contingent for 2nd Khelo India University Gaines

Manipur University is set to take part in 2nd Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2022 to be held at Jain University, Bengaluru in 5 different sports disciplines viz-Athletics, Archery, Judo, Boxing and Fencing.
Manipur University qualified for the five disciplines in the games based on the performance of players representing the university in the recently conducted All India Inter University Sports Competitions, as per an office order issued by the Assistant Director of Sports, MU.
As per the order, H Bhumeshwory Devi of Biramangol College will be representing MU in the women's athletic events (800 m race, 1500 m race) in the 2nd KIUG while M Rupani of the same college will be partaking in the compound archery event.
Pravabati College's Kh Bidyarani will be representing MU in the women's 70+ kg judo while Sanathoi Hemam (women's 57 kg) of KP College and L Rohit Singh (men's 54 kg) of Biramangol College will be participating in the boxing event.
The other sports discipline is fencing where 13 fencers qualify for individual and team events (epee, foil and sabre).
Linthoi Haobam of Manipur University, Ph Anita of Biramangol College and L Ambika Chanu of Manipur College will be participating in the women's epee, foil and sabre individual events.
The teams on the other hand include:
Epee (women's): Linthoi Haobam, S Chingkheinganbi Chanu of MU, N Pinky Devi of Kakching Khunou College and K Nomita Devi of Standard College.
Foil (women's): Ph Anita Chanu, N Mina Devi of KP College, G Priyalaxmi Devi of Oriental College and Khusboorani Laishram of Biramangol College and
Sabre (men's): Chingkheihunba Haobam of MU, S Chingkheinganba Meitei of Manipur College, L Chingkheinganba of Biramangol College and Kh Tompok Singh of Pravabati College.
Further, the Assistant Director of Sports also appointed officials to accompany the Manipur University Contingent as its support staff.
The officials include Dr Kh Joychandra Singh (Asso Prof Manipur College) as the Overall i/c of the University Contingent (Chef De Mission); L Thoimani Devi of Dept of Youth Affairs & Sports as Athletics (W) Manager cum Coach; L Gunita Devi of SAI, NERC, Imphal as Archery (W) Manager cum Coach; Chingkheinganbi Huirem of SAI, NERC, Imphal as Judo Manager and Coach; L Radia Devi of SAI, NERC, Imphal as Boxing (M&W) Manager cum Coach and H Jadavchandra Singh (Section Officer, Sports, MU) and H Manglemba Meetei (MPSC) as men's fencing team's Manager and Coach respectively and H Leimarembi Chanu of Manipur Fencing Association and S Roshan Meitei (NS NIS Fencing Coach) as women's fencing team's Manager and Coach respectively.
The officials and athletes named in the contingent were also instructed to report at the office of the Assistant Director of Sports, MU by 11 am of April 8 for their final registration, coaching and
other details.
