₹ 742 crore sanctioned under PMGSY

For rural road connectivity under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the rural development ministry released a total of Rs 742 crore for Manipur for the year 2021-22 (till March 31) .
In his written reply given to the Lok Sabha Tuesday, Union minister of state for rural development Sadvi Niranjan Jyoti informed that a total of Rs 742 crore has been released for rural road connectivity for Manipur for the year till March 31 .
He also mentioned that fund released for the state for the same in the year 2018-19 was Rs 293.63 crore, Rs 263.85 crore in 2019-20 and Rs 420.66 crore in 2020-21 .
The minister also told the House that Central government had sanctioned financial assistance to states for construction of rural roads measuring 7,88,185 km in total arid 9,509 bridges while construction of 7,01,205km road and 6,852 bridges have been completed so far.
Remaining road and bridges to be constructed are 71,172km and 2,657 respectively.
The ministry chalked out a three layer quality control policy while developing roads and bridges.
In the first layer, programme implementation unit made it mandatory for materials to be used and workmanship to undergo field laboratory test while state quality monitor controls quality in the initial stage, middle and final stage at the state level.
In the third layer, independent national quality monitoring agency namely National Rural Infrastructure Development Agency check quality through random inspection.
State and national monitoring agencies compulsorily check quality of every road and bridge, he mentioned in the written reply.
He also told the House that a total of 14,828 reports of inspection by national quality monitor were received for the year 2019-20, 2020-21 and till March 31 of 2022 .
