MoA inked for strengthening conservation of natural resources in Taorem village

A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed for strengthening the conservation works of forest and natural resources located in and around Taorem village on April 4 at the office chamber of Divisional Forest Officer (Central), Mantripukhri.
DFO (Central) RK Amarjit Singh, IFS on behalf of the Manipur Forest Department signed the MoA with Taorem Village Authority and Resource Mobilisation Centre (Safe Environment Campaign Committee) Heingang.
The MoA was signed among the three entities in connection with the construction of a 'Water Filtration Plant' at Taorem Village with the financial assistance of ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, Mumbai under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, said a press release by Safe Environment Campaign Committee.
It may be noted that the DFO (Central) proposed the project for construction of the water filtration plant at the village to the ICICI Foundation, Mumbai in November, 2021 acknowledging the joint conservation initiative of Safe Environment Campaign Committee and the villagers in the last 10 years.
Accordingly, ICICI Foundation after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Conservator of Forest (Central), L Joykumar Singh, IFS on behalf of the State Forest Department on November 30, 2021 sanctioned funds for the project.
The project aims to provide safe drinking water to at least fifty households of the nearby villages using water sources from natural springs located in the area.
The construction of the plant is in the final stage now and it will start supplying safe and clean water to the villages within this month.
Mutum Inaobi Singh, Chairman of Safe Environment Campaign Committee, W Indrajit Singh, Secretary of Taorem Village Authority signed the MoA on behalf of the Resource Mobilisation Centre, Heingang and Taorem Village Authority respectively.
Siba Veimy (MFS), Assistant Conservator of Forest (Central) also inked the MOA as witness besides M Inaoton Singh, Executive Member, Taorem Village Authority and Y Manimohon Singh, Executive Member, SECC, added the release.
