MOMA to facilitate global marketing of organic produce

The Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) has formulated a policy to facilitate global marketing of local products to transform business and bring sustainable economy for the farmers of the State.
MOMA Project director K Devadutta said this during a media workshop on 'Role of Media in Organic Farming In Manipur' at Manipur Mountaineering Institute (MMI), Lamdan in Churachandpur district.
K Devadutta while speaking at the ocassion said buying organic products is beneficial to both the buyer and the seller.
The consumer gets to enjoy produces with zero side effects while the famers/sellers also get to make a living out of it, he added.
The state government through MOMA has started exporting the products of farmers to other states of the country, even business negotiation for direct trade partner with foreign countries is headway.
He cited Manipur organic rice Chak-hao (black rice) would hit in global market.
MOMA had consulted with a Dubai based company to export of Chak-hao, ware house has been identified in Dubai super market.
All this procedures will be complete within 4-5 months.
While other branded organic food such as Turmeric, kiwi, pine-apple, king chilly, Kachai lemon etc were also pursuing for large scale marketing.
Once the organic certification is done, there will be no wastage of agricultural and horti products.
The agency has utilised around 37,500 hectares of land for producing organic products.
MOMA has sold around Rs 80 crore of organic products grown in the state since 2016, while adding that efforts are being made to further increase the volume of exports added Devadutta.
He also mentioned that the state government working on formulating a systematic policies to free from used of chemical fertilizers, further to declare organic state in near future.
