New NCP chief prioritized of party activities

Imphal, March 07, 2014: Newly appointed President of the Nagaland Unit of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Imtilemba Sangtam, MLA, has called upon the party's rank and file to unitedly work to strengthen the party.

In a felicitation program held here at State NCP office Conference Hall today, many party leaders lauded Imtilemba Sangtam on becoming the new president of the State NCP.

In his maiden address to the party functionaries and rank and file in a felicitation program, Sangtam expressed his gratitude to the NPC National President Sharad Pawar for appointing him as President of the State NCP.

He thanked the Central NCP President for appointing former State NCP President Neiba Ndang as National NCP Secretary and also for appointing Mmhonlumo Kiko, MLA and chairman MARCOFED, as Central Observer in-charge of Northeast.

Setting his first priorities after assuming the office, the former Minister said they should work to expand the party activities in every nook and corner of the State.

"We have to reach out our activities at the grassroots," he said seeking cooperation from all the party men and women to achieve towards this "mission".

Stating that Nagaland had the second highest NCP MLAs after Maharashtra, State NCP President pointed out that they were placed in a very important position in the map of NCP in India.

He further explained the importance of closely working between the party workers and the State Legislatures so as to streamline the party functioning in the State.

Former Minister and leader of Nagaland NCP Legislature Party Dr TM Lotha, MLA, also spoke on the occasion.

He lauded the Central NCP leader for appointing Imtilemba Sangtam, MLA, as State NCP President, former State NCP President Neiba Ndang as National Secretary and Mmhonlumo Kiko, MLA, as Central Observer in-charge of Northeast NCP.

Dr Lotha emphasized on the importance of maintaining disciplines among the party workers saying that without "discipline," they could never march forward.

"We have to discipline ourselves to streamline our party activities," he pointed out.

Stating that National NCP President Sharad Pawar was a tall political personality and always played important roles for the larger interest of the party in the country, Dr Lotha said as reports came in, there would be a hung Parliament.

"There are likely to be realignments in the event of the Parliament elections, and Sharad Pawar will be the key player in any given political situations," he said adding, "Let us remain alert".

Recalling the contributions and works made by the past leaders in the State NCP, Dr Lotha said because of them, they were here today.

He further called upon the party men and women to be loyal soldiers of the party which was "supreme".

Earlier, State NCP General Secretary Miathou Krose briefed the new State NCP President of the party activities.

He also thanked former party President Neiba Ndang and other leaders for their sacrifices for the development of the party, while expressing his confidence that under the new leadership, they would be able to grow the party from strength to strength.

Meanwhile, State NCP felicitated the former State NCP President Neiba Ndang for his appointment as National NCP Secretary.
