Youth Disaster Response Force, the first of its kind in the State, has been set up with the initiative of Club 25 International, Manipur chapter.
Addressing a press meet at Global Youth House auditorium hall at Soibam Leikai Ayangpali Road, Secretary of Club 25 International, Manipur Kangujam Karnajit said that the force has been raised with 50 youth volunteers.
The Club has already negotiated with the Govt to provide technical training to the 50 volunteers within a short time from now.
There are some youth among the volunteers who have already received such training, he said.
Karnajit said that some experts have also been engaged to motivate the volunteers prior to the training programme.
The force has been raised with the objective of providing help to the people in the event of disaster and to sensitise the people for enhanced preparedness in the event of natural disasters, he said.
The Manipur chapter of Club 25 International has been engaged in spreading environmental awareness among the people and playing a pivotal role in blood donation campaign in the State.
Soliciting supports from all concerned in the club's endeavours, Karnajit further said that the full functioning of the newly raised Disaster Response Force would be ensured within three months from now.
