In the first pre-quarter match of the 4th Bikram Memorial State Level Tennis Ball Cricket Tournment, Young Cricke-ters downed MABA by 42 runs to make the cut for the quarter final stage.
MABA won the toss and elected to take the field first.
Put in to bat, Young Cricketers put on 160 runs for the loss of ten wickets in 14.4 runs, riding on a fine 49 runs off 23 balls from Zakichand.
In reply, the innings of MABA folded up for 128 runs for the loss of three wickets in the allotted 15 overs.
For his fine contribution with the bat, Zakichand was adjudged the man of the match.
In the second pre-quarter final match of the day, YPU scripted a narrow 1 run win over Dervy.
On winning the toss, YPU opted to bat first and put up a total score of 122 runs for 9 wickets in 15 overs.
Dervy was in the run chase till the last ball but fell by one run notching up 121 for 9 the loss of 9 wickets in 15 overs.
Kamando of YPU walked away with the man of the match award for his fine 48 runs from 28 balls.
