Imphal, March 07, 2014:
Nagas and Kukis in Saikul assembly constituency or Saikul sub-division under Senapati district have banned all the activities of the Congress party with immediate effect.
They also said no Congress party workers will be allowed to campaign in connection with the ensuing Lok Sabha election.
Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai (KISG) and Saikul Area Naga People's Organisation (SANPO), the two apex social bodies of the two communities in the sub-division or constituency said today that they have taken this drastic step as the State Government continues to remain indifferent to the various requests put forth by the two bodies to the State Government of Manipur.
The two Kuki and Naga organisations have been demanding from the State Government to cancel the Manipur Home Department's orders regarding the police district boundary and police station jurisdictions, wherein, more than 120 villages of Saikul sub-division are included in the jurisdictions of valley districts' police stations.
These orders were issued without the knowledge and consent of the villagers concerned, KISG and SANPO alleged.
In this connection several representations have been made to the chief minister and the deputy chief minister to cancel the said orders and also to withdraw all the villages of Saikul sub-division from the jurisdictions of valley districts' police stations.
However, to no avail, rued the KISG and SANPO.
