IEDFA edge past DSA Kak, IWDFA thrash DSA Tml

Two contrasting matches marked the day with the boys from Imphal East District Football Association edging past a competitive DSA Kakching in the first match while in the second match, Imphal West District Football Association handed out a humiliating defeat to DSA Tamenglong by a margin of 9 goals to nil in the ongoing 17th U-15 Sub-Junior Inter-District Football Tournament.
The first game was an on the edge of the seat thriller of a match with IEDFA coming back thrice from behind and emerge winner by a margin of 4 goals to 3. Aware of the potential of each other both teams took to the field, ready to pounce on any opportunity that came their way and not yielding an inch, when it mattered.
The team from DSA Kakching however made its intention clear with some quick passing amongst their forward lines and adopted an attacking format, with at least two strikers up front in the early minutes of the game.
This strategy paid off as Premdash slotted the ball home as early as the 3rd minute of the game to put the Kakching team up by one goal.
The goal was the result of a fine move down the flank and Premdash demonstrated exquisite skills in controlling the ball which was floated on the top of the penalty box area.
After controlling the ball and catching a couple of defenders on the wrong foot, Premdash banged home.
The one goal cushion did not lull the Kakching boys as they kept up the pressure and defender Md Azaruddin scored an own goal in the 16th minute.
Undaunted by the two goal deficit the boys from IEDFA got their acts together and put more men on the attack.
This move paid off as N Naoton reduced the margin in the 17th minute of the match.
The boys from Kakching however did not loosen their grip on the match as they scored another goal in the 35th minute through Taslim Khan to help his team take a three goal to one lead at the lemon break.
In the second half, the IEDFA players played with more purpose and Md Azaruddin made amends for his own goal earlier, when he netted the ball in the 56th minute to reduce the margin.
The 56th minute goal put more energy in the boys of IEDFA and going on the offensive found the net in the 62nd minute through Th Borish to level the goal difference.
Th Borish was at it again in the 64th minute when he shrugged off his markers and found the target to help his team emerge winner by a margin of 4 goals to three.
The second day of the match was a totally one sided one, with the boys from IWDFA toying around with the players from Tamenglong.
Bungthanglung led the charge with three goals in the 4th, 34th and 37th minute, followed by Nanao with two goals in the 60th and 69th minute, while Sh Natrajit was on target in the 11th minute, Bishwamitra (47th min), L Manish (75th min) and Kh Johen (79th min) to complete the rout.
