Imphal, March 07, 2014:
Governor of Manipur VK Duggal has appealed to all to remember the great teachings and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda who had done so much for the welfare of mankind.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the inaugural function of a regional level youth convention organized by Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Cherrapunjee, Meghalaya and 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda Celebration Committee, Manipur at Asha Hall, North AOC here today.
Governor further said that Vivekananda revitalized Hinduism and his teachings were the main reason for the enthusiastic reception of yoga, transcendental meditation and other forms of Indian spiritual self improvement in the West.
He espoused that all sects within Hinduism are but different paths to the same goal which is an extension of his Guru Ramakrishna's declaration "As many faiths, so many paths".
Vivekananda was a nationalist but he maintained that addressing the poverty was a pre-requisite for national awakening.
He influenced many Indian thinkers and Auribindo regarded him as the one who awakened India spirituality, Duggal asserted.
The inaugural function was also attended by Swami Atmapriyanandaji Maharaj, Swami Sumanasananda, Padmashree T Haridas, Chairman of Board of Secondary Education Manipur P Dhanakumar and Dr S Kulachandra.
