TRP rises marginally, fatality rate remains low
369 new positive cases; only 3700 samples tested, 4586 vaccinated in last 24 hours

The state recorded marginal increase in daily positivity rate while fatality count for three consecutive days remained low.
Government bulletins on Wednesday reported six fatalities and 369 new pos itive cases out of 3700 samples tested registering a positivity rate of 10 per cent against 9.29 per cent recorded on Tuesday.
Though the number of daily fatality count has been six for the last three days, there is no report on the number of deaths, which the government treats as non Covid deaths.
The active caseload has come down further to 5506 out of which 1661 (30.17 per cent) are in home isolation, 2024 (36.76 per cent) in CHICs, 1060 (19.25 per cent) in CCCs and 761 (13.82 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 139 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 319 are on oxygen support and 69 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Iland Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre though tiiese facilities have 210,24 and 17 patients respectively.
At the same time, 38 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Tuesday evening, 338 beds including 65 ICU/HDU beds in different hospitals, 2487 beds in different CCCs, and 293 beds (19 ICU/HDU) were available in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 79,917 positive cases and 1354 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month saw an addition of 10,818 new cases and 172 fatalities out of which 3287 new cases and 54 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 369 new positive cases included 364 people (174 male & 190 female) from among the general population and five personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Their samples were tested at RIMS (32), JNIMS (28), District Hospitals (209) and other testing centres (100).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (76), Imphal West (135), Thoubal (18), Bishnupur (62), Kakching (15), Ukhrul (12), Churachandpur (18), Chandel (1), Senapati (1), Tamenglong (7), Tengnoupal (1), Jiribam (2), Noney (4), Pherzawl (4), Kamjong (2) and Kangpokpi (6).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 6 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been provided.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (1), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (1), Chandel (1) and Churachandpur (1).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1728.Out of six victims, 3 had no co-morbidities and two had received first dose of Covid vaccine.
In the last 24 hours, 578 patients were discharged from home isolation (231), RIMS (47), JNIMS (7), CCCs (145) and CHICs (148).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,09,317 (general population - 1,05,236 and CAPF personnel - 4,081).Number of recovered cases is 1,02,083 (general population - 98,067 and CAPF personnel - 4,016) and number of active cases is 5,506 (general population - 5,446 and CAPF personnel - 60).The recovery rate is 93.38 per cent.

1539 D-type and 418 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities.
Despite the repeated assurances of completing vaccination target by next month, vaccination pace remains low.
Only 4586 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,71,305.Out of them, only 2,82,877 people have got both doses despite having 345618 individuals eligible to get the second shot of Covid-19 vaccine.
Meanwhile, 27 new positive cases were detected out of 165 samples tested from Tuesday 2 pm to Wednesday 2 pm in Kakching district, thus registering a positivity tate of 16.36 percent.
Two cases were detected at Ema Hospital and 25 at government RAT sites.
All are residents of Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (36,799), Imphal East (24,491), Thoubal (8906), Churachandpur (9280), Kangpokpi (2547), Tamenglong (2959), Bishnupur (8381), Senapati (1974), Ukhrul (1998), Kakching (5971), Chandel (2109), Noney (949), Tengnoupal (1007), Jiribam (99l), Kamjong (62l) and Pherzawl (334).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (574), Imphal East (404), Thoubal (159), Churachandpur (151), Kangpokpi (55), Tamenglong (,13), Bishnupur (176), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (23), Kakching (108), Chandel (32), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (12), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 35,229 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average pf 23,146 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,76,3134 tests per million population against the national average of 3,55,949 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 percent while the cumulative positivity rate is 9.36 per cent.
