Kangpokpi, October 13 2021:
Kuki National Front (Nehlun), a non-SoO militant outfit, has blamed civil bodies of Phailengmol (Island Block) area for the Tuesday's B Gamnom bloodshed.
The outfit's information and publicity Secretary, Gou alias Kuki said that the outfit had asked the civil bodies to refrain from conducting a funeral programme of the deceased KNLA cadres who were killed during a reported encounter with security forces on October 10 but they did not heed the group's instruction.
He continued that KNLA is a gang that set its foot in Phailengmol area to harass, loot, kidnap and levy unlawful taxes on innocent civilians of the area.
Gou also said that KNF-N has been trying hard to drive away cadres of KNLA from Phailengmol area, while adding that ever since their presence in the area peace and harmony has been disrupted.
Clarifying over the gruesome killing incident of innocent civilians at B Gamnom, the outfit said, "While the civil bodies had been conducting a funeral service of the deceased KNLA cadres in violation of the instruction, some of our cadres went to stop them, but suspected KNLA cadres opened fire on our cadres around 10:30 am and our cadres retaliated," while adding, "During the exchange of fire, blind bullets of KNLA hit some of the innocent people including children".
The outfit expressed solidarity and regret over the incident where innocent civilians including minors lost their lives and held the civil bodies of Phailengmol (Island block) responsible for the unfortunate incident, stating that had they (CSOs) refrained as instructed such unwanted incident could have been avoided.
The outfit also conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families of all the innocent civilians killed in the incident at B Gamnom.
