KFA open night football tournament kicks off

Kangpokpi, October 13 2021:
With 66 teams in the fray for Rs 1 lakh championship prize money, the prestigious Kuki Football Academy's 5th Edition Open Night Tournament kicked off on Tuesday at D Phaihel village in Kangpokpi district.
Former minister Haokholet Kipgen opened the biggest night tournament in the state as he graced the opening ceremony as chief guest in the presence of Kamginmang Kipgen, chief of Gamnomphai village who attended the occasion as functional president while Karthik Malladi, SP Kangpokpi, and James Doujapao Haokip, CEO Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council Kangpokpi, attended as guests of honour.
During his speech, Haokholet Kipgen saidthat the KFA's open night football tournament signified peace in the district while expressing his happiness to witness nightlife in the district.
SP Kangpokpi Karthik Malladi said that the spirit of competition takes the game forward and he, at the same time, encouraged the gathering to recreate the spirit of brotherhood, adding that peace is the prerequisite for progress in the district.
The opening match between Kholjang Youth Club and Lalcha Memorial Team (LMT) Saparmeina ended 3-0 in favour of LMT Saparmeina.
Lun Lotzem (3rd), Momon (25th), and Bennaldinho (63rd) scored for LMT Saparmeina.
There will be three matches every night, starting at 5 pm .
