Imphal, October 13 2021:
Central Committee Tulihal, Polling Committee Tulihal and Youth Front Tulihal on Wednesday jointly organised a public meeting for peaceful conduct of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections and preventing candidates from campaigning for votes on communal lines in Yairipok Tulihal, Andro AC.
Speaking at the meeting, Polling no 7-22 secretary Sayed Nayazuddin explained that the meeting was conducted for the supporters of ex-MLA Th Shyamkumar, who will be contesting the upcoming polls, to ensure that the election is held in a peaceful manner without any incidents.
Urging all concerned not to reduce the polls to an opportunity for organising mass feasts or for inciting fights, the secretary further urged against hurling accusations against an innocent man on the media.
Sayed then called for the support of Sanjoy and not to set up Bimol as a scapegoat in the October 11 incident, adding that he (Bimol) could be named guilty legally if there is evidence supporting his supposed crime.
The relevant authorities will be the one to initiate action, he (Sayed) said, while urging all concerned not to try and destroy the life of an innocent man just to gain some political mileage.
Remarking that no poll violence was seen when Th Shyamkumar won the polls three times since 2007, the secretary said that the ex-MLA has been working for the development of the constituency, including laying the foundation stone for a gym at Tulihal, to be constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs 1 crore.
The construction will be concluded before the elections.
Additionally, the ex-MLA has also blacktopped many of the roads, he said.
He then urged against campaigning for votes in a communal manner, while further appealing against spreading rumours accusing Shyamkumar of being the mastermind behind any incident.
