State sees surge in Covid cases

Imphal, June 22 2022:
A possible resurge of Covid-19 has created a sense of uncertainty among the people as the state reported Covid positive cases for three days in a row with Wednesday reporting 3 new cases out of only 54 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 5.56 per cent.
Mention may be made that Monday reported one new case out of 59 samples tested and Tuesday one fresh case, out of 53 samples tested.
The current month has reported 12 new cases out of 1308 samples tested, with a monthly positivity rate of 0.92 per cent against 0.55 per cent recorded in May.
All the three new cases (2 male & 1 female) are residents of Imphal West district.
With only one patient discharged in the last 24 hours, the number of active cases rose to six.
Five of them are staying in home isolation.
Till date, the pandemic has claimed 2120 lives including seven CAPF personnel and infected 1,37,250 individuals including 5,014 CAPF personnel.
The virus has claimed lives of 194 vaccinated people, out of which 61 had received second doses of Covid vaccine.
There are 14 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 47 in RIMS.
So far, the state has record ed 11,462 positive cases and 118 fatalities since the beginning of the third wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 12 new positive cases and zero fatality.
A total of 123 D-type and 1 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours and 1817 vaccine doses administered on Tuesday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated population to 15,87,207, out of which 12,51,756 had received second doses and 1,05,095 had taken precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (48,757), Imphal East (30,456), Thoubal (10,161), Churachandpur (11,054), Kangpokpi (3136), Tamenglong (3478), Bishnupur (9843), Senapati (2493), Ukhrul (3279), Kakching (6896), Chandel (2726), Noney (1158), Tengnoupal (1201), Jiribam (1111), Kamjong (1036), and Pherzawl (465).Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 44,231 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 30,806 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 5,20,215 tests per million population against the national average of 6,10,542 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent while the recovery rate is at 98.45 per cent and the cumulative positivity rate stands at 8.50 per cent.
