IYD celebrated, yoga / lecture organised

86th Battalion CRPF celebrated 8th International Yoga Day (IDY) on Tuesday at its Lamphelpat Battalion HQ as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
According to a release, 86 Bn CRPF commandant Mohd Yusuf, second-in-command Deepak Kumar, deputy commandants Manoj Singh and Thonglenlal Haokip along with 560 personnel, their families and locals residing near the HQ participated in the celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, the commandant apprised the jawans and their fam ilies about the importance of yoga and encouraged the participants to make it a part of their everyday live and to keep themselves fit, mentally and physically for their overall well-being.
Further, he also pointed out that yoga is known for its amazing health benefits and practicing yoga daily enables the unity of mind, body and soul.
Meanwhile, Modi Battalion of Assam Rifles organised yoga session and lecture on drug abuse under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan on Tuesday at St Joseph's School in Chandel district.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that a unique event with combination of yoga and drug abuse awareness saw participation of more than 130 students, teachers and staff of the School.
The proceedings included glimpses of yoga and motivational lecture on drug awareness.
A token of appreciation was also presented to the students who participated in district level sports competition.
The event was much appreciated by the students and staff of the school, added the PRO.
