Imphal, June 22 2022:
While lauding the assurance of MP Leisemba Sanajaoba about blacktopping of the road from Awa Ching foothill to the memorial site of student martyr Sapam Robinhood during a tree plantation event held on June 19, Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has, nonetheless, asserted that simply blacktopping of the road in Awa Ching could not save the indigenes.
In a release, JCILPS co-convenor publicity Warepam Second said that though the ILP system has been implemented in the state since January 1, 2020, the people as well as JCILPS have been demanding the government for more effective system.
However, the government failed to fulfill the demand, he lamented.
Second further urged RS MP Sanajaoba to exert pressure on the government for implementing an effective ILP system instead of the present toothless one so as to protect and promote the indigenous people of the land.
