Imphal, June 22 2022:
Asserting that it will spare no effort in the promotion of peace and security within its operational area, Zomi Re-unification Organisation (ZRO) has stated that it is shocked and alarmed by the increasing escalation of violence within its jurisdiction in the recent past.
In a release, ZRO's armed wing Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA) town commander 'self-styled' major Robin Zomi emphasised that it stands for peace and communal harmony and abhors any form of violence and enmity which may lead to communal clash and inter-factional conflict.
The otherwise peaceful environment of the operational area of ZRO has been disturbed and vitiated by certain anti-social elements and anti-Zomi groups.
Any disgruntled group and armed-gang indulging in disrupting the fragile peace and security within its area will be accorded zero-tolerance.
Stern action will be awarded to anyone who dishonours the instructions of ZRO, it cautioned.
ZRO also mentioned that there was a bomb blast on March 12 at Central Lamka claiming the life of Deepak Kumar of Bihar, on June 11; MT Geltam chief Katnmuanpau was kidnapped allegedly by KIA, a non SoO Kuki armed group and recently the brutal murder of Anand Gupta on June 17 by Kangleipak Communist Party-NRFM (KCP-NRFM) group.
As if this is not enough, some non-local businessmen received threatening phone calls from KCP-NRFM armed group and were even sum-moned to report at Imphal.
ZRO would not tolerate such anti-social elements and would protect everyone irrespective of caste, creed and tribe affiliation within its jurisdiction, it assured.
ZRO further expressed that it is highly condemnable and pathetic to note that KCP-NRFM, a valley based militant group served monetary demand to Churachandpur District Private Schools & Colleges Association (CDPSCA).
Educational institutions and centre of learning should be respected and should remain free from monetary demands.
ZRO warns KCP-NRFM to immediately withdraw its thoughtless demand, it said.
ZRO also claimed that it has intelligence inputs that certain armed groups provide protection and shelter to some individuals, who were already terminated from the organisation, indulging in anti-Zomi activities.
ZRO asked these armed groups to keep aloof from people indulging in anti-Zomi activities.
No group should recklessly indulge in perpetrating violence which can impair peace and security thereby creating fear psychosis among the general public, it said, while appealing to public to extend their support in its pursuit for peace and security.
