MPCC protest against BJP Govt begins today

Putting up 11 demands including revocation of alleged anti-people policies framed by the BJP government, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) is all set to launch a month-long protest from June 23 onwards.
According to MPCC senior spokesperson N Bhupenda, the party decided to launch a protest during a joint meet ing held on Wednesday which was attended by party leaders including district presidents.
Informing media persons about the protest plan during a press conference held at Congress Bhawan here on Wednesday, N Bhupenda said that the joint meet discussed various issues confronting the nation as well as the state including repeated summoning of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Agnipath recruitment scheme.
He said that Congress party will never remain silent over harassment of Rahul Gandhi by summoning repeatedly on National Herald case by the Enforcement Directorate as the case is unrelated to the AICC leader.
The joint meet also decided not to accept Agnipath scheme and demanded revocation of the same considering future of youth of the nation, he said, adding that Congress party demands action against security forces who acted excessively against party leaders and workers in Delhi and Manipur.
MPCC will never tolerate inhuman eviction drive con ducted by the BJP government in the state and genuine landless people affected by the eviction must be allotted land by the government, he said, adding that Congress party allotted land to landless people in 1975 but the BJP government demolished houses construct ed on those lands.
He also expressed concern over land owners to be affected when 79 roads in greater Imphal area are expanded.
The MPCC spokesperson also said that ongoing fencing work along the India-Myanmar border in Manipur sector must be stopped immediately and work for the same resume only after final settlement of the border dispute.
Union minister of state for external affairs minister is from Manipur but the minister remains silent when vast tract of Manipur's territories are lost due to the fencing, he said and asked as to why government of India should part with land of Manipur to the neighbouring country.
He further questioned as to why BJP government is unable to stop fencing work when Congress party halted the same during its tenure.
He also said all the reserved and protected forest land in the state must be demarcated properly within a time frame as also boundary of 16 districts and sub-divisions.
