Tremendous employment scope for nurses: Dr K Rajo

While informing that Manipur is among few states that have received 'Outstanding performance in Covid-19' award given by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in recognition of the roles of health workers in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic, health director Dr K Rajo credited the government for the award for giving special attention to the health sector and encouraging the medical professionals.
Speaking as the chief guest of the capping, lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony of 20th batch of ANM/FHW of Female Health Workers' Training School under Family Welfare Department held at GM hall here on Wednesday, Dr K Rajo pointed out that oath taking ceremonies of nursing students are held so as to remind them of their responsibility and perform duties sincerely and selflessly towards the patients, irrespective of caste and creed.
The nursing students who will become professional healthcare service providers from today should not forget the pledge they have taken, he exhorted.
Noting that the nursing training system in the state has improved a lot, he assured to do the needful for creation of post of director of the nursing section in the Health Directorate over and above the existing posts of joint director and deputy director.
Dr Rajo also observed that nursing students will have huge placement opportunities once they complete the course as there will be regular recruitment for nursing posts by the health institutes in various states.
The students should not consider that there is no place for ANM in health sector as all the 424 health sub centres in the state are managed by ANMs, he explained, adding that the government will definitely fill up the vacant posts of nurses.
The director also stressed that ANM nursing students could upgrade by studying GNM course.
Moreover, sincerity and talent of the state's nurses are preferred by other states as well as abroad, Dr Rajo pointed out, while assuring that he will convey to the minister concerned for taking up necessary initiatives if the nurses want any more activities from the minister's side.
The function presided over by Family Welfare Department additional director Dr N Dihe Mao was also attended by Manipur Nursing Council registrar Th Nandarani, TNAI Manipur State Branch president and GNM School Churachandpur president T Tangbi and JNIMS nursing superintendent Mutum Jibanlata as guests of honour.
Female Health Workers' Training School principal in-charge Swarnalata Rajkumar administered the oath to the passing out nursing students.
