The health Mela was organised as part of the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav by Block Health Society, Sadar Hills East, at Hoikhonei Multi-Purpose Hall in Thangkanphai village.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Kimneo, while explaining about the importance of organising health mela and celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, asked, "After 75 years of Independence where are we today? What is our standard of living? Where are we in terms of healthcare? What has the state provided for its citizens' need for healthcare? .
Are we utilizing the resources provided by the state to its full potential?" .
She also questioned whether the district is equipped enough to deal with complications faced by pregnant and lactating women and to deal with emergencies.
The MLA then said that if there are no satisfactory answers to these questions, then the celebration of 75 years of India's independence will not be fruitful, adding, "We should introspect about our responsibilities to realise where the problem actually lies" .
She pointed out that in 2021, India ranked 66th in the global security health Index and 47th in infant mortality rate, while adding that the high infant mortality rate is generally indicative of unmet human health needs in sanitation, medical care, nutrition and education.
"Saikul CHC is recognised by the state government as one of the best but there are still a lot of room for improvement in terms of health sector in our constituency and the authorities concerned need to be aware of the urgency and unmet medical needs of our people.
If the system from the top does not meet the needs of the people, the only other option we have is to start from the bottom, from the grassroots level," the local MLA added.
She also said, "At the block level, we need to perform our duties to the best of our abilities, and then we shall move on to the district level and so forth" .
Kimneo then assured, "If there are any grievances with regard to healthcare that concern me or that require my intervention, I will always be available for you" .
The MLA urged the people of Saikul for a collective effort to make Saikul the best in terms of healthcare.
Kimneo praised 'hard-working and sincere people' like the deputy commissioner, SDO and medical officers in the district, and said, "I am very optimistic that with their help and presence, our Saikul Assembly Constituency will definitely come on top of all the others in the near future" .
