Street vendors not allowed beyond 8 am

Imphal Municipal Corporation caretaker Mayor L Lokeshwor has said that street vendors selling various items in and around Khwairamband market will not be allowed beyond 8 am .
The caretaker Mayor said this while speaking to media at a press conference held at the office of the corporation today and added that such street vendors are being given permission to sell their products till 8 am everyday but action will be taken up against them if they go beyond the permissible hours.
IMC will remove such vendors with the help of City police, he added.
He said that the decision has been taken following strict instructions from Chief Minister N Biren Singh and MAHUD Minister Y Khemchand to not allow any street vendors in and around Khwairamband Keithel.
Steps to relocate such street vendors at the new market shed at Lamphel supermarket is already complete and all the street vendors will be moved to the new market shed, L Lokeshwor informed.
The new market shed at Lamphel has more than 1300 plots for vendors and with time more people will come to know about the place and eventually business will boom, he added.
Parking of vehicles along Paona Bazar is not allowed and authorities concerned have been instructed to pick-up violators of such regulations, he added.
The new market shed at Lamphel can go a long way in easing the presence of street vendors at Khwairamband Keithel.
