Imphal, April 18 2022:
As a part of the observation of Fire Service Week 2022, a mock drill was conducted by Manipur Fire Service at RIMS today to spread awareness on how to prevent fire incidents.
It may be noted that Manipur Fire Service has been conducting awareness programmes in various locations of the State as a part of the Fire Service Week 2022 which is being observed under the theme "Learn fire safety, increase productivity." across the country.
In today's mock drill attended by staff, students and security guards of RIMS, Manipur Fire Service personnel through the mock drill displayed tactics and measures on how to protect oneself during a fire incident especially caused by gas cylinders.
Speaking on the occasion, Laishram Nabachandra, Joint Director, Manipur Fire Service said that while conducting inquiry on fire incidents which have occurred in major buildings, offices etc, it has been found that such places didn't have proper fire safety equipment and the staff and people were ignorant of the fire safety measures which is unfortunate.
In view of the frequent fire incidents in hospitals and crowded places, Manipur Fire Service has been organising awareness programmes and similar activities in private and Government hospitals in the State since April 18 as part of the Fire Service Week which will continue till April 20 .
Also a voluntary blood donation camp was organised today in connection with the Fire Service Week 2022 organised by Life Savers Manipur in association with Manipur Fire Service Department, State Blood Cell of National Health Mission Manipur, State Blood Transfusion Council, Manipur, Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS and M/S Northeast Marketing Agency, Keishamthong.
A total of 20 blood donors donated blood in today's camp.
