Imphal, April 18 2022:
Lack of teachers in Government schools including pre-primary, primary, high school and higher secondary schools has created a sense of uncertainty in the lives of students studying in these institutes.
The Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) said this in a statement issued today and alleged that the Government has been neglecting the students of Government schools for a long time.
Hijam Roshan, general secretary MSF, said the federation has been working towards making the education sector better for the future generations.
MSF had visited numerous Government educational institutions as a part of 'Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi' campaign during which the visiting team found that there was shortage of teachers and poor infrastructure in most Government run educational institutes, added the statement.
MSF visited Keinou High School in Bishnupur district and the students and staff of the school raised issues of shortage of teachers and infrastructure in the school.
MSF, students and teachers of Keinou High School appealed the Government to look into the matter.
Hijam Roshan added in the statement that most of the students in Government run educational institutions are from families with very low income.
The Government has been neglecting such students in all other spheres of education after providing some benefits of mid-day meal, free uniforms and free books.
MSF further appealed the Government to focus on all Government educational institutions rather than just one school under 'School Fagathansi Mission'; look into the matter of lack of teachers in educational institutions and recruit more teachers to fill in the vacant posts.
