287th anniversary of Langol Tarung Village celebrated

The 287th anniversary celebration of Langol Tarung Village was held today at the community hall of the village under the theme 'Fight for Righteousness' .
The celebration was jointly organised by the Langol Tarung Village Authority, women society and Langol Tarung Youth Club.
Speaking on the occasion, former corporator of Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) Ward no 1, Gaidon Gangmei expressed that the occasion is a joyous and proud moment of Langol Tarung Kabui Village which is one of the oldest tax paying villages in the State.
Expressing dismay over the false allegations levelled against the village as forest encroachers, he refuted the allegations and said that the villagers have been planting trees and have been safeguarding the forests surrounding the village in the best possible way.

Further he appealed to all to make concerted efforts to preserve the forests in the State.
Plantation of saplings and observing two minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed elders and leaders of the village were the main highlights of today's celebration.
Chairman of Langol Village Authority, Meishongku Panmei, officer bearers and the villagers also attended the programme.
