Toupokpi, Chakpikarong, Khubung & Charongching in CSDSA Meet semis

Imphal, January 19 2024: Toupokpi YC, Chakpikarong YC and Khubung Khullen YC qualified for the football semifinals of the 43rd CSDSA Sports Meet 2024 as the league round wrapped up on Friday.

Toupokpi FC ensured their place in the semifinals with a 2-0 win over Nungpan YC in their last league match played at Chakpikarong, Chandel.

HB Nineson turned hero as he scored twice in quick succession in the second half to guide Toupokpi to a convincing victory.

Nineson broke the 0-0 deadlock with a 71st-minute strike before he went on to make it 2-0 in the 72nd minute.

Chakpikarong YC, meanwhile, booked their semifinal spot with a 7-1 thrashing of Salluk YC.

NL Phowlson ran riot, pumping in six goals to steer his side to an emphatic win.

Phowlson started off with an 8th-minute opener, then he extended the lead in the 11th minute, scored his third goal in the 16th minute before he collected three more goals (49, 46, 59) to round off his and team's scoring.

Teammate WS Phahring (47) contributed a goal.

WS Palungngam (61) was the lone scorer for Salluk.

Meanwhile, Khubung Khullen and KKNYC played out a 1-1 draw but the result was enough for the Khubung squad to qualify for the semifinals.

In the match, Angshingam put Khubung ahead in the 57th minute before SR Phaval equalised for KNNYC in the 73rd minute.

The semifinal fixtures will see Toupokpi YC take on Chakpikarong YC in the first semifinal at 10.30 am while Khubung Khullen YC face Charongching FC in the second semifinal at 12.30 pm on Saturday (January 20) .
