Musical campaign on NRC kicks off

Imphal, September 10 2026:
A musical campaign was launched today as part of the ongoing movement demanding updation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) before the conduct of the Census in Manipur.
The campaign will feature a song composed and performed by renowned musician Tapta (Loukrakpam Jayanta) .
The flag-off function was organised at the residence of Tapta at Naransena, with TAIFUM and 14 CSOs Kangleipak jointly organising the programme.
14 CSOs vice chairman Takhalembam Sanajaoba, finance convenor Khetrimayum Somorendro, convenor Nahakpam Shanta and Tapta attended the programme along with many elders and local residents.
Speaking on the occasion, Tapta said the song was intended to serve as a gift to the people and help strengthen the movement.
He expressed hope the musical campaign would contribute to making the movement more successful.
He added that the lyrics of the song were composed after considering the views expressed by the people and listening to discussions on the issue at various public gatherings.
