Rani Gaidinliu Foundation appeals to reconsider boycott of CM's visit

Tamenglong, September 10 2026: The Rani Gaidinliu Foundation Trust Committee appealed to the Working Committee of the Joint Tribes Council Manipur (WC-JTCM) to reconsider the proposed boycott of Chief Minister of Manipur maiden visit to Luangkao, the birthplace of Rani Gaidinliu and the site of her tomb on September 12 .

In a letter addressed to the working committee, the Rani Gaidinliu Foundation Trust Committee Luangkao stated that the programme is being organised to honour the sacrifice and legacy of the great freedom fighter, Rani Gaidinliu and it is not a political programme, nor is it intended to represent or speak on behalf of any civil society organization (CSO) or political organisation.

The Rani Gaidinliu Foundation Trust Committee expressed belief that the Chief Minister's visit to her birthplace will serve as an important opportunity to recognise her historic contribution and to bring greater attention to the preservation and promotion of her legacy.

Therefore, it requested the Working Committee of the Joint Tribes Council Manipur and all concerned to reconsider the boycotl call and allow this historic programme to take place peacefully and with the dignity it deserves.

It also appealed to all concerned to keep this occasion above political differences and allow it to serve as a moment of unity, remembrance, and respect for Rani Gaidinliu legacy.

It may be noted that WC-JTCM called the boycott demanding justice for six Liangmai Naga who were killed brutally in May.
