KCC, WYC complete Luwangpokpa T-20 semis lineup

Imphal, January 19 2024:
KCC (Kongba) and WYC (Thoubal Wangkhem) triumphed in their respective quarterfinal matches to complete the semifinal lineup of the 14th MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy 2023-24 .
KCC claimed a 2-wicket victory over YUCC (Kwakeithel Moirangpurel) at Model Hr Secondary & Oriental College Ground on Friday for their place in the semifinals.
Opting to field, KCC restricted YUCC to 101/10 as Singthoi Singh Nandeibam led the bowling attack with a haul of 3 wickets while Yumnam Sheiteendra Singh, Wahengbam Somorjit Singh and Nameirakpam Arbin Singh each snapped 2 wickets, with Keisham Basantakumar Singh taking one.
YUCC's innings saw W Lenin Singh (21), Khundrakpam Punshiba Mangang (15), Ningthoujam Thoiba Singh (14), Ningthoujam Rahulkumar Singh (11) and Shyam (10) get into double digits.
In their response, KCC struggled to cope with YUCC's bowling as some batters fell cheaply, but they managed to achieve the target in 19.4 overs with 2 wickets to spare.
Nameirakpam Arbin Singh top-scored for KCC with 32 while Tayenjam Tomba Singh was unbeaten on 15 and Nongmaithem Dijaraj Singh also made 15, followed by Keisham Mranojit Singh (12), Hijam Boba Singh (5), Keisham Basantakumar Singh (1) and Wahengbam Somorjit Singh (1) .
For YUCC, Devraj Nongthombam claimed 3 scalps, Khundrakpam Pun-shiba Mangang and Somraj Laishram picked up 2 each, and Ningthoujam Rahulkumar Singh bagged 1.WYC, meanwhile, beat YWC (Langthabal) by 24 runs at Lairenjam Public Ground to join KCC in the last four.
WYC elected to bat and scored 106 after they were dismissed in 18.5 overs.
In the innings, S Herokumar Singh (38), Ruhit Nongmaithem (28) and Huirongbam Biteshwor-Singh (15) were the main run-getters.
In the process, 3 each of WYC's wickets fell to Maibam Subash Singh and Pukhrambam Prashantamani Singh, and 2 each to Yumnam Athouba and Ngangbam Bishwash Singh.
Their bowling unit made up for WYC's subpar batting effort as the Thoubal side bowled out YWC in 18.5 over for 82 to secure a 24-run victory enroute to the semifinals.
Ruhit Nongmaithem was the pick of WYC's bowlers, finishing with 4 scalps.
Mangi Sharma Gotimayum and Wanghkhem Laksmon Singh did their bit with 2 wickets apiece while Thoudam Roshankumar Singh took one wicket.
In their chase, only Ngangbam Bikramjit Singh (22), Seram Robinson (16) and Yenshenbam Vivek managed to reach double figures.
WYC will now play MPSC while KCC square off against UCC in the semifinal matches on Saturday (January 20) .
