Imphal, January 19 2024:
The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has asked the incumbent BJP Government and the Chief Minister come up with some tangible actions in line with the people's wish within the next two/three days.
A team of COCOMI visited Chief Minister N Biren this afternoon and asked his position on the current situation of Manipur.Briefing media persons after their meeting with N Biren at the gate of the Chief Minister's Bungalow, COCOMI convenor Jeetendra Ningomba said people want to know N Biren's position as the Chief Minister of Manipur on the current situation of Manipur.
"On behalf of the people, we put the same question to the Chief Minister", he said.

"We asked about the Security Advisor and also the Unified Command.
We also pointed out that the present security arrangement of Manipur has failed totally", Jeetendra told media persons.
"We are deeply hurt by the Government of India's policy.
The ongoing crisis is a proxy war", he asserted.
The Government of India has been following a policy of keeping its eyes both on the Kukis and the Meiteis, and the State Government is fully aware of this policy", he said.
The primary duty of the Chief Minister and all the MLAs is protection of people but it is highly questionable whether they are committed to protect the people, the COCOMI convenor said.
"Attacking Manipur State forces is akin to slapping our faces.
What kind of security arrangement will the Government make under such circumstances ?", he asked.
Requisition of helicopter does not guarantee peace.
The State Government must hit back at those who attacked its machinery and forces.
The State Government must eliminate those elements, Jeetendra asserted.
He went on to ask why the Government should be soft on those criminal elements.
The Central Government has been watching silently when four innocent civilians were massacred by Kuki militants under Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement.
There are security forces near the massacre site as well as at Haotak.
There are Sikh Regiment and CRPF at Chiru area, he pointed out.
He then asked what the Security Advisor, the DGP, the Chief Minister and the Union Home Minister have been doing.
The COCOMI asked the State Government to take a clear position on the current crisis.
Public declarations like 'I love Manipur', 'I will protect Manipur' are not enough.
The COCOMI told the Chief Minister that he must stand up against the Government of India if the situation demands for the sake of Manipur.
The National Register of Citizens (NRC) must be updated urgently, he said.
Pointing out that Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists have been repeatedly attacking and killing a number of innocent people, the COCOMI convenor demanded immediate abrogation of SoO. Senior SP Krishnatombi who is currently deployed at Moreh has pointed out that there were many who spoke Myanmarese among the Chin-Kuki terrorists who launched full scale war against State security forces at the border town, Jeetendra pointed out before asking the State Government what line of action it would adopt against those foreign terrorists.
The Government must take up decisive action against those foreign terrorists immediately, he demanded.
The Security Advisor, the DGP and the Chief Minister must take up some tangible actions within the next couple of days even if it means standing up against the Government of India.
If there is no positive response, CSOs would be compelled to launch intense modes of democratic agitation, he said.
The people of Manipur will soon take a decision and the State Government must accept what the people may do, he continued.
To a query raised by media persons, the COCOMI convenor said, the Chief Minister's reply is always 'will do' .
"We will see what he does", he added.
"We told the Chief Minister we are hopeful that the Government will do something this time.
If the Government belies this hope, the Government shall see what we will do", Jeetendra conveyed.
