Let people defend Manipur: Shiv Sena

The violence in Manipur since May 3, 2023 will intensify as long as central forces sent to contain the same remain as mute spectator, stated Shiv Sena Manipur president M Tombi, while adding that central forces should leave Manipur and let the people defend the land on their own.
According to M Tombi, large number of central forces deployed in the state to contain the violence have failed to protect lives and properties of the Meetei people and they have rather sided with the Kukis.
A team of Shiv Sena Manipur led by M Tombi visited residences of the four people killed by Kuki militants on Thursday in Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou and shared the pain and grief of the bereaved families on Friday.
After visiting the families, Tombi told media persons at Shiv Sena office, Babupara, here, that the firing incident in Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou that killed four innocent civilians happened barely 10 minutes after personnel of Sikh Regiment deployed nearby left the area.
Before leaving the area where a drinking water facility is located, personnel of Sikh Regiment even asked the villagers to help them in fetching drinking water and assured of providing food items instead of money as they had no cash.
Just after personnel of Sikh Regiment left the area, armed Kukis entered and brutally killed four civilians in the area, he claimed.
While stating that people of Manipur have no trust on Central forces deployed for containing the violence, M Tombi suggested that authories concern withdraw the central forces and let the people to defend their lives and properties on their own.
He also said that expenditure incurred by the state government for deploying central forces would be more beneficial in providing relief materials to displaced people who are currently taking shelter in relief camps.
